Emaciated Whippet at a hospital in Florida

Postby patchnmike » Fri Oct 25, 2013 5:50 pm

THis is the posting on their face book page:

Posted to Facebook:

Meet Angel our newest resident at Safe Harbor. Angel is one of 3 dogs (two Chihuahuas)who were part of an animal abuse case at Broward ACC. They were unable to keep them so we now have them at the Safe Harbor hospital. They are VERY sweet, VERY hungry, in need of medical care and TLC! We couldn't let them be put down. We are in need of donations so we can continue to provide them with the ongoing care they will need. Won't you consider helping Angel? You can send your tax deductible donation to: Safe Harbor 401 Maplewood dr suite 22 Jupiter, FL 33458. Attn: Angel
www.safeharborsanctuary.com there is a paypal link there
Right now they need to be hospitalized however rescue is a consideration when they are stronger

God. Can't adopt, but $100 there now. Please feed and hug and kiss these babies. Thank you, Jini, for letting us know.

Two updates:
Update today at 12:21 PM: They are slowly feeding her to put weight on. She weighed under 10 pounds when taken into custody. The two Chihuahuas seized were not in as bad of shape, but still bad. Angel is a confirmed Whippet.

Update today at 2:20 PM: Wanted to let you all know that I called and spoke with the operations manager of Safe Harbor, and Angel is actually wanting to walk around a bit today - a big improvement. I gave her my contact information and explained that everyone in WRAP is pulling for Angel and thankful for what they're doing. She promised to contact me if they need anything at all. I will call and check in on her again next week.

These are both updates from WRAP.

Oh, no--a ten pound whippet--there is an update on their FB page that Angel is "very SWEET." That makes it even more heartbreaking. It took one minute to make a donation and bless the people at Safe Harbor for taking in Angel and her two small friends. I am sure they'll be in the hospital for some time--such a horrible thing.

Unbelievable. I hope those responsible are successfully prosecuted.

Meanwhile, very glad to see promising updates, donation sent.

Heading over to the page to make a donation and share it so my friends can donate too. Poor thing. He is definitely an angel. I hope he feels the love and care of the people who are helping him now and that he forgets the suffering he has gone thru.

Heartbreaking. I wish I were closer. I hope she goes to an experienced whippet owner who will love her just as any one of us would.

We will be thinking good thoughts for Angel. Add a donation from Dawn (3whippetmadness) and me to the coffers.

Apparently the owner has alzheimers, and forgot that he had dogs, so cruel comments are not needed about the owners, but where is his family to check on him and the dogs hmmm

On the web page it says that Angel and her two small friends are enjoying meal times (!!!), and that she has already started to gain a little weight. She apparently had to have a blood transfusion, but does seem to be doing betterment thank goodness. The folks at Safe Harbor folks have a special place in heaven for their work and care.

OMG. Poor baby! I would gladly foster or adopt but it appears I am one of many lining up. It appears she will have a wonderful home once they get her rehabilitated. It is sad that Nobody who knew the person...would check on things.

Can't believe someone let's a dog get in this poor of condition, only a strong heart could have kept this girl alive, it burns me Up, by now everyone should know to call a vet, ask, scream for help, placement, poor girl, hopefully she is in good hands now, thank God they didn't put her to sleep,

WHOA let's put this into perspective, yes it is very distressing that the whippet & 2 Chihuahuas got into such retched condition BUT this was not intentional & with malice... There is an owner incapacitated by Alzheimer/dementia so I would say blame probably lies else where.

As far as Safe Harbor Rescue is concerned they are a registered charity 501.c3 (that way your donations are tax deductible on your US Federal Tax Form) They are run by 4 vets they are much more than a vet hospital they are a sanctuary http://www.safeharborsanctuary.com/ I am concerned about how this is being "marketed" as an abuse case as I 'personally' feel that is very misleading.
