Do you ever wonder?

Postby Daylily » Fri Feb 28, 2014 3:41 pm

Do you ever wonder what your dog is thinking? Carson has been outside this morning, it's about 46 degrees with a north wind blowing at 20 mph, and he's been sitting under this tree for going on 30 minutes now. I thought maybe he had a squirrel in the tree, but I cannot see it. I went and looked to see if I could see anything in the direction he's looking - nope! The neighborhood is quiet, at least I can't hear any dogs barking and it's not like he's listening to something in the distance. He's just sitting there. He won't come when called, just sits under the tree looking to the north. (I wish I caught a picture of his ears blowing back) I guess he's just enjoying the wind. He can be so odd sometimes!

Handsome dog!

Maybe an interesting smell detectable by doggie-nose?

What a sweet boy he is in that picture. I'm sure he is smelling something lovely and it's making him dream about it, or he is contemplating the universe! I hope he has come in by now....or else we'll have to start worrying about a doggie psychologist. I can hear it all now...."did you love your mother dear boy?" :D

I was thinking maybe the wind was blowing interesting scents his way, too. I think dogs do enjoy a nice day just as much as we do. Maybe he is feeling the Spring coming on and enjoying the fresh air?

Fran, I don't think he knows what a bitch is, lol. Or what to do with one! He's the "low man on the totem pole" in our household of four, if you know what I mean. The goof stayed under the tree for 45 minutes that I know of, then moved to another area of the yard. He loves to be outside, whatever the weather. I've got pictures of him sitting in the yard when it's raining, and snowing. He's such a sweet boy, but what a goof!

Chelsea would do that for hours. Sit and sniff the air. Just watching and smelling the world go by. I miss that.

It is good to see another whippet doing this! Praline will also sit under a tree for while.

That is really cute, for whatever reason. Maybe he's reflecting on his wonderful life!

As well he should! (if I do say so myself!) He's made a wonderful recovery from his FHO surgery last summer. Just like his surgeon said he would, he runs around the yard, zigging and zagging like crazy. And, he's no longer on any pain meds or anti-inflammatory. So for now, life is really good!

Silly boy! Maybe he's smelling all the wintery smells from the north and thanking God he's in Texas! ;-)
